IL COMUNE DI BORGHETTO DI VARA:

Le aree pubbliche di Borghetto di Vara sono state colpite nella loro totalità, quasi tutte in maniera irreparabile. Ne è un esempio Piazza della fontana che ad oggi non esiste più: rimangono soltanto quelle aree che una volta erano adibite al transito dei mezzi pubblici. Questo ha ovviamente segnato profondamente il cuore del paese, togliendogli il principale punto di incontro. Al momento è importante pensare di ricreare uno spazio pubblico sostitutivo: a tale scopo ci è stata indicata l’area di Largo Carlo Del Vigo, anch’essa al momento completamente spoglia. Suggeriamo inoltre, quale luogo da considerare in tema di concorso, il parco giochi. Speriamo di poter ricevere al riguardo progetti di facile e rapida attuazione, dal momento che i comuni alluvionati si trovano ancora nella condizione di rimettere in sicurezza il paese, ripristinando rete fogniaria, strade e case.

IL COMUNE DI PIGNONE:

Così come Borghetto Vara, anche l’area di Pignone è stata colpita duramente ma il comune è in fase di ripresa: è stata effettuata la pulizia degli spazi pubblici, delle abitazioni private e delle attività commerciali (alcune già in fase di riapertura, altre ancora in ricostruzione). Per quanto riguarda le aree pubbliche, l’attenzione in questo momento è rivolta alla gestione dei ponti principali che permettono i collegamenti del paese. Questi non presentano danni di natura strutturale, infatti sono perfettamente agibili, tuttavia devono essere sottoposti ad una ripavimentazione ed ad un rinnovo delle barriere di protezione. Infine, sempre in riferimento agli spazi pubblici, il campo da calcio e il parco giochi sono stati completamente sommersi dal fango: potrebbe essere questo uno spunto per sviluppare un progetto di concorso (considerando come tema di progetto il rinnovo di questa zona).

In answer to the many questions you asked about which are the most important items to focus your projects on for the reconstruction of the flooded towns (it deals with the second contest called “ideas & projects”), we decided to find out more infos. Indeed we asked to the involved Municipalities to give to us a list about what could be more useful to be designed. In this way we hope to be able to help you in the project phase by giving to you useful topics, without limiting anyway your ideas to this list (alternative subjects concerning the contest are welcome). That is why, here, in this post (first of a series) we report more infos about the public spaces. In particular, you will find dimensional datas too; for this purpose it would be interesting to suggest solutions with elments that can be easly integrated in different spaces, instead than only in a specific one, only if it could be possible (concept of your project permitting).

THE MUNICIPALITY OF BORGHETTO DI VARA

The public areas of Borghetto di Vara have been totally hit by the flood, most of all in an irreparable way.An exemple is Piazza della Fontana (the main square) that does not exist anymore right now: there are only the areas that once were used as transit of public transports. This  obviously marked the heart of the town, removing the main meeting place. At the moment it is important to create a new equivalent public space: related to that the municipality reccomended us to suggest the area of Largo Carlo del Vigo, that has been totally destroyed too. Moreover we suggest, as another item to work on, the recreation ground of the town. Hoping to receive projects that could be firs of all easly and quickly made, especially because the municipality of the flooded towns are busy now doing the safety plan, by re-establishing the drainage system, the roads and the houses.

THE MUNICIPALITY OF PIGNONE

As Borghetto Vara, the Pignone area has been quite destroyed by the flood also if the Municipality is already working on it: the most part of the town have been cleaned, such as: public spaces, private houses and commercial places (some of them are already re-opening and others are still under re-construction). For what concerns the public areas the attention nowaday is to the management of the main bridges that allow the links of the town The bridges have not structural problems, ideed they can be used, however they must be subjected to repaving and to renovations of the protective barriers. Last but not least, always regarding the public areas, the football field and the recreation ground are completely covered with mud: this could be an input for developing a project for the contest (taking the rinnovation of this zone as the focus of your work).

To open the contest to a greater amount of entries and to give the project more time to be noticed, especially in Universities & Schools, Ricreiamo decided to postpone the deadline from 1st of frebruary to 1st of march 2012.The entries will be accepted no later than the middlenight of the 1ST of MARCH 2012.(As soon as possible we’ll update the deadline on the rules files of the pages of the contests too and on the other competitions website that are advertising our project). On the 25^th of October, Liguria and part of Tuscany were hit by a tragic and destructive flood that literally swept away houses, cars and the dreams of many small communities. Many volunteers are helping in rebuilding these devastated towns but we can contribute much more. Participating in this competition, you can support the reconstruction with your ideas and you could be one of 10 winners that will see their ideas printed on various promotional materials. These materials will be sold to collect funds for the towns of Val di Vara affected by the floods. Furthermore,  at the end of the competition, there will be a small exhibition which will include all of the projects. In this way, we can recognize all the participants who, by means of their creativity, worked towards the common goal of the relief effort.
